Pandas Are Back | San Diego Zoo

Pandas were once one of the San Diego Zoo's most beloved wildlife ambassadors, and their absence was felt long after they left. So, to announce the arrival of Yun Chuan and Xin Bao, the first pandas to enter the U.S. in 21 years, I helped lead a reunion campaign worthy of the wait.

Starting with a single piece of art showing nothing more than two dark ears, instantly recognizable to a fanbase that had been waiting years to see them again, the campaign expanded into a full suite of OOH billboards, static/motion digital banners, and in-park signage. I also contributed to the naming of their newly expanded habitat, Panda Ridge.

At the opening ceremony, Governor Gavin Newsom and Chinese Ambassador, His Excellency Xie Feng marked the occasion together, standing in front of the campaign's art as they celebrated the pandas' return.
